About Us

About NEPAS

Established in 1981 by a dedicated group of paediatricians in Nepal, NEPAS has been a driving force in advancing child health. Our journey involves a range of impactful initiatives.

NEPAS actively contributes to child health by developing essential guidelines and protocols. We collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) to provide training to healthcare workers at various levels. Our involvement extends to critical areas such as paediatric essential critical care and care for small and sick newborns. During the COVID-19 pandemic, NEPAS played a pivotal role by preparing guidelines for managing COVID-19 in children. We conducted virtual training sessions for healthcare workers and advocated for COVID-19 vaccination for children. NEPAS is also actively engaged in nutritional programs and provides training on nutritional support. We have a history of providing health education, counselling, and child right support, notably during the earthquake in 2015. Our guidelines on managing children during disasters have been published for reference.

Since 1981, NEPAS has been publishing the Journal of Nepal Paediatric Society (JNPS). The journal is peer-reviewed and indexed in various databases, facilitating the dissemination of vital research and knowledge. To promote academic growth and knowledge sharing among our members, we conduct regular monthly Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions. The Nepal Paediatric Society Conference (NEPCON) is organized every two years, attracting participants from across the nation and around the world. It serves as a platform for presenting scientific papers, updates, and discussions on subspecialty subjects. Research and child health projects are integral to NEPAS. We have conducted numerous research projects and published them in national and international journals. Past initiatives like IMCI and current projects like MNCH are actively implemented in various parts of the country.

In essence, NEPAS strives to unite paediatricians across Nepal under a common vision. Our goal is to elevate the society to the status of an Academy, where research and evidence-based practices drive government and non-government actors’ decision-making and policy formulation. This collective effort aims to ensure the delivery of timely, high-quality treatment to the children of our nation.
